COSMETIC DENTISTRY

Why We Love Doing Cosmetic Dentistry at OHD:

"Growing up, I have always been very insecure about my teeth. My lateral incisors were missing, so I always had big spaces in the front of my teeth and needed braces to close the gaps. Because of this, I always thought that I had an ugly smile. My orthodontist recommended veneers to make my re-positioned teeth look more natural, but I was a bit apprehensive. She highly recommended Dr. Ossman as a local cosmetic dentist. And let me just tell you, the veneers look AMAZING!!!!!!

Dr. Ossman and her team walked me through what they were doing, made sure I was comfortable, and let me know that I could contact them if I had issues. They had a very quick turn around time from the temporary veneers to the permanent veneers, which was great! And when those veneers went in, I could hardly believe it, they looked SO natural. They were a perfect color and shape match, and they made my smile look so much prettier! Plus, Dr Ossman called the next day to check in and make sure I loved my smile. You can tell that this team is so passionate about what they do, which made for a great patient experience! I didn't think I would ever like my teeth, but I was wrong!!"

SURESMILE CLEAR BRACES

The invisible way to straighten your teeth without traditional braces. To discuss clear braces in Enumclaw, please feel free to contact us to schedule a free consult.

What is the process?

  • First, we start with a records appointment where we get a 3-D image of your full smile and a panoramic x-ray of your jaw.

  • SureSmile uses a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets.

  • The aligners are made through a combination of Dr. Ossman's expertise and 3-D computer imaging/design technology.

  • You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss (for maximum effectiveness we recommend wearing your aligners 22 hours a day).

  • As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Ossman has prescribed.

  • You’ll visit Dr. Ossman about once every 6-8 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

  • Total treatment time averages 9 – 15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

Why SureSmile and not Invisalign or other clear aligners?

  • The main reason is that we generally see less refinements than Invisalign and other clear aligner systems, which leads to a shorter treatment time for our patients! This is because SureSmile uses more trays to achieve smaller, but more frequent movements in your smile over the same amount of time. These has proven to achieve 50% less refinements in patient cases and therefore quicker case results.

  • SureSmile uses Essix ACE plastic which combines esthetics, flexibility and durability for clear braces that you will barely see.

  • We use a state of the art 3-D scan and design process which allows us to cut out the uncomfortable ortho pictures that involve cheek retractors and large mirrors positioned in your mouth

Will insurance cover my clear braces?

  • Yes, in most cases you will be able to use your full ortho benefit which is normally in the range of $1000-$3000 depending on your dental insurance. We can help verify the benefit details specific to your plan!

  • We also offer savings on your case if you decide to pay your patient portion up front

  • As an additional option, we offer 0% financing on our payment plans which we will extend over the length of your ortho case

VENEERS & ESTHETIC CROWNS

Veneers are thin shells of ceramic that bond directly to the front surfaces of the teeth. They are an ideal choice for improving your smile and have become increasingly popular due to their simplicity, versatility and ability to completely transform a smile.

Placing custom veneers requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail. We place veneers routinely and design each case individually to match and enhance the characteristics of each patient’s smile.

Dental veneers are a simple restorative treatment for chipped, cracked, discolored, worn down, or uneven teeth where we bond thin porcelain shells directly to the front surfaces of your teeth. This customized procedure requires a high degree of technical skill as well as attention to cosmetic detail. Rest assured, you’re in good hands with us. Dr. Ossman is an expert at designing custom veneers that match and enhance the unique traits of each of her patient’s smiles.

What are dental veneers and esthetic crowns for?

Veneers are used to correct a wide variety of dental problems, including but not limited to:

  • Closing gaps.

  • Repairing chips or worn-down spots.

  • Whitening discoloration.

  • Correcting alignment.

What are the benefits of veneers and esthetic crowns?

  • Highly esthetic, relatively instant process to transform your smile (if there is proper spacing, veneers can transform your smile more quickly than orthodontics)

  • Long-lasting

  • Resistant to breaking, chipping, staining, and wear

  • Biocompatible

  • Transformational

When would you use veneers vs an esthetic crown?

This will depend on a few key factors that Dr. Ossman will assess. The long term viability of each option will be considered based on your bite, spacing in your smile, home care and existing tooth structure.

Dr. Ossman will utilize her experience and esthetic expertise to make a recommendation for your smile.

TEETH WHITENING IN

We offer various options to whiten your teeth here in our office. Generally we offer custom bleach trays and different levels of bleach concentration levels depending on your goals.

Dental whitening can be used to correct tooth discoloration. Discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in whitening technology, we can offer a safe method for creating a beautiful “brilliant” smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the lower cost of whitening treatments, teeth whitening is nearly always worth a try.

On your first appointment we will take impressions for your bleach trays and in just a week or two we will have trays and your bleach gel to get started.

With only a few hours of wear per day, our special bleaching agent bubbles stains right out of your enamel in a very short time without altering tooth structure or existing dental work in any way. When your teeth reach the desired brightness, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile.

Over-the-counter bleaching agents are available for purchase at drug stores and pharmacies. However, since these products can cause harm to the gums and teeth, it’s better to use products that our practice recommends with the guidance of our Doctors.

Botox Injection

BOTOX, DYSPORT,  DAXXIFY, AND FILLER

My Dentist Administers Botox?

Short answer: YES! Dentists spend their doctoral years focused strictly on the anatomy of the mouth, jaw and facial muscles from chin to forehead. This means they are actually uniquely suited to be great Botox injectors! Beyond her doctoral studies, Dr. Ossman has obtained specialized training from some of the top injectors in the Northwest and she administers Botox for cosmetics and jaw pain.

What Injections do you offer at your office?

We offer the following cosmetic/therapeutic injections:

  • The masseters - jaw muscles (to prevent jaw pain from clenching & grinding your teeth)

  • The forehead (cosmetic/preventative treatment for wrinkles)

  • Between the eyes - glabellar region (cosmetic/preventative treatment for wrinkles)

  • Around the corners of the eyes - crow’s feet (cosmetic/preventative treatment for wrinkles)

What is Botox?

Botox is a trade name for botulinum toxin, which comes in the form of a purified protein. The mechanism of action for Botox is really quite simple. Botox is injected into the facial muscles but really doesn’t affect the muscle at all. Botulinum toxin affects and blocks the transmitters between the motor nerves that innervate the muscle. There is no loss of sensory feeling in the muscles. Once the motor nerve endings are interrupted, the muscle cannot contract. When that muscle does not contract, the dynamic motion that causes wrinkles in the skin will stop. The skin then starts to smooth out, and in approximately three to ten days after treatment, the skin above those muscles becomes nice and smooth. The effects of Botox last for approximately two to four months, at which time the patient needs retreatment.

What Brand Of Botox Do You Use?

We utilize brand-name Botox®, Dysport and Daxxify. These products are the highest quality offerings on the market and they are the most well-known international brands.

We offer three different brands because some patients notice a difference in onset speed and longevity of their injections depending on how their body responds to each company's botulinum toxin formula. Each patient is unique and during your initial consult Dr. Ossman will help you create an injection plan that will work best for you.

What can I expect if I get Botox injections?

Most people do not feel significant discomfort and describe injections feeling like a pinch. No anesthesia is needed with these nonsurgical, noninvasive services. That is a big reason Botox is a common alternative to more extensive plastic surgery. Dr. Ossman uses the thinnest possible needles and expert injection techniques to maximize your comfort. In most situations, injection sites will appear as small bumps that disappear within 15-30 minutes after injection.

Within 3-14 days, you will notice relaxation of your facial muscles and smoothing of your existing wrinkles. Results normally last 2-6 months depending on the patient, the amount of Botox that was administered and the brand of injectable.

Are there any side effects?

Although you will recover quickly, some patients will experience the following minor side affects:

  • Minor pain

  • Light bruises or swelling

  • Tenderness or muscular sagging

  • Headache

  • Nausea

  • Redness

  • Flu-like feeling (rare)

  • Allergic reactions (rare)
